Back in the day. The Beehive Lab Coat was worn by all workers of the mill…..
When we started our research every image that had the lab coat in wether apprentices class photos or press, work in action images were all black and white.
Apprentice Intake of ’63
So when a local lady donated an original lab coat we were pleasantly surprised to find that not only was it not grey! it was a technicolour turqoise. and a sateen nylon. Which makes sense considering the innovation in nylon 66 and man made industrial fibres. Its Practically bombproof.
The act of donning a lab coat as uniform whilst going about the day to day craft is a real culture driver.
Don’t be surprised if you see our ateliers wearing a version of these in the future.
